Self-Chosen, But Accountable - Choosing Your Path, Bearing Your Responsibility
Freedom and joint responsibility
In today’s world, everything can be personalised - from social media feeds to career path - education is no exception. Learners are no longer passive recipients; they become the architects of their own journey.
“Self-chosen, but accountable” - you have the right to choose, but you must bear the responsibility. You can pause, but you cannot give up. You may change the direction, but you may not drift aimlessly.
You may stumble, but you must rise from the very spot where you fell.
From the narrow ladder to the open field
Flat education has transformed the rigid, vertical ladder of traditional models - where each rung is an exam, a diploma, a fixed measure - into a wide-open field. Learners can move in multiple directions, each at their own pace.
At SIMS, you may complete a full programme and earn your degree, or study for only a year before moving to another school - even outside the formal partnership system. Near or far, every effort deserves recognition. One credit, one project, one year of study - all are milestones of growth, not fragments of an unfinished journey.
No failures, only pauses
A learning journey may twist and turn, but no one “fails” as long as they keep moving forward. Even when one door closes, many others remain wide open.
The humanist core of modern education is to accept mistakes, but never to accept giving up. SIMS never shuts its doors on anyone, as long as you are willing to walk your chosen path with determination and responsibility.
Freedom does not mean leniency. Once you choose, you must face the consequences and take ownership. There is no room for blame, no shortcuts for those unwilling to see their journey through.
Education is measured by progress, not diplomas
Unlike traditional models that lock learners into rigid paths, flat education opens countless crossroads and pathways. You may transfer from one school to another, as long as you carry with you a spirit of active learning and belief in your own value.
Education does not define a person by the name of the school they attend, but by how they grow through each stage of the journey. One rigorous year of study, though brief, may be worth more than a diploma if it changes the way you see, think, and live.
We accompany you
In the learning journey, each person rewrites their own map. Sometimes you start over, sometimes you pause to reflect, sometimes you take a new turn. What matters is not speed, but holding the wheel firmly.
At the Swiss Institute of Management and Sciences (SIMS), we provide more than knowledge; we accompany, guide, and experience alongside you - building, growing, and developing together. For us, education is an open door, where each individual - in their own time - can flourish, bloom, and carve their own path.
